The nose is spicy and herbaceous, with sweet oak but not as much fruit as one expects from this winery. The wine is medium-bodied, slightly tart, with earthy, herb, and cherry flavors presented in a restrained, elegant format. Drink it over the next 3-5 years. The Williams-Selyem winery has long been a reference point for complex, sumptuous Pinot Noir. That being said, I thought the 1993s possessed a degree of herbaceousness and higher acidity than previous releases.
