After two tastings from cask and one from bottle, my notes all say - "don't touch it for a decade." The dark ruby color is followed by a full-bodied wine with super-concentration. The promising aromas of baked apples, smoked nuts, black fruits, and cloves require coaxing from the glass. Meaty, chewy, and frightfully backward and dense, this is a wine to drink between the turn of the century and 2025. Pothier's 1990s are intensely rich, tannic, exceptionally well-endowed wines with the potential to last 15-25 or more years.
